“Philanthropy is not about money… it is about feeling the pain of others and caring enough about their needs to help”
-Timothy Pina
Sticking to this motto, the Asha Team members visit door to door in all the Asha slum communities to ensure good health, education and environment for the slum community members every day.Have you ever wondered what it takes to motivate those slum dwellers to come to the centre and take the initiative for their wellbeing?
Many of the times, while taking a round of the community for ante-natal care of those in gestation, people shut doors at their face. Despite this, Asha Team dedicatedly goes to their shanty continuously and keep motivating them till they nod.
A time when the capital city of India is gripped by heat wave due to very high temperatures, the Asha Team walks across the slum communities; immunizing infants and vaccinating children against diseases, checking the pregnant ladies, following up with the cases of Tuberculosis and ensuring that the patients are properly taking their medicines and also making the young mothers and pregnant ladies aware of the importance of breastfeeding and proper nutrition.
The Asha Team also conducts awareness sessions for the community to make them aware of family planning and reproductive health. Be it about the environment cleanliness, empowering women and children of the communities or promoting Higher Education amongst the young children of Asha, the Team puts their heart and soul into it.
