An Evening of Inspiration: Asha Australia’s Fundraising Dinner in Melbourne

A wonderful fundraising dinner was hosted in Melbourne by the Asha Australia Board, bringing together an inspiring gathering of supporters. Among the esteemed guests were former Governor of Victoria, Alex Chernov, and his wife Elizabeth, along with friends of our Chair, Robert Johanson. The evening also welcomed board member Richard Leder, Professors Jim McCluskey and Rob Moodie from the University of Melbourne, representatives from RSM, corporate and foundation supporters, and personal friends of the board, particularly Richard Leder.

The event commenced with remarks from our Chair, Robert Johanson. A highlight of the evening was a special film screening by Cam, a filmmaker who, alongside Caroline Chernov and a dedicated team, mentored our students in the art of film production.

Their work beautifully showcased the extraordinary creative talent within our communities. It was a privilege to share the Asha story, followed by the heartfelt journeys of Chandan and Tushar, Asha PhD scholars currently studying at the University of Melbourne. Both Robert and Richard also shared their reflections, making the evening all the more special.

The night was filled with inspiration, meaningful conversations, and the warmth of shared purpose, all over a delightful meal. A heartfelt thank you to Robert Johanson, Richard Leder, and everyone who generously contributed.

May our Health and Education Movements continue to grow with even greater momentum, ensuring that no slum resident is left behind.
