Raised in a challenging environment, 19-year-old Rajkumari from the Dr Ambedkar slum community is driven by her dreams and refuses to give up.
Originally from Bihar, her father moved to Delhi 18 years ago, hoping for a better life. He works as a plumber, but his income is unstable, and her mother helps as a housekeeper. With five siblings to care for, the family often struggles to meet basic needs.
Despite the hardships, Rajkumari’s parents worked tirelessly to provide for their children, never showing their burdens. Unfortunately, Rajkumari couldn't enrol in a regular college due to financial constraints.
The Asha education staff stepped in to help. They visited Rajkumari's home, motivated her and her parents to continue her education, and suggested a vocational course that could lead to a job. After hard work and encouragement, her parents agreed to support her education.
With Asha covering all her course fees, Rajkumari is now pursuing a three-year bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory technology. Her determination to complete her studies and uplift her family is unwavering, despite the hardships she's endured.
