We had the pleasure of hosting Minister for Resources and Northern Australia, Senator the Hon. Mathew Canavan and other officials from the Australian High Commission visit Asha's Kanak Durga slum community to celebrate the International Women’s Day.
Mr Canavan was fascinated with Asha’s work and spoke highly about how impressed he is of meeting the Women’s Association, who despite all the odds, are extraordinary women in their own rights. Apart from this, the senator also took a stroll around the community with sheer fervour.
Mr Canavan also extended his support towards health rights of women and girls in Asha community. “It is great to be here [at Asha] today, to witness the hope and change take place in such a wonderful way,” shared Mr Canavan during his note to the Women and children. “Australia and Asha have had a very strong relationship since the last 28 years, and I hope this continues forever,” he added.
We are thankful to the Australian community and wish to further strengthen our long-standing association with them.
Thank you, Mr Canavan! We hope to see you soon!
