Governor of Victoria hosts lunch for Dr Kiran

On 16 April 2015 Dr Kiran was the guest of honour at a lunch hosted by the Governor of Victoria, the Honourable Alex Chernov AC QC and Mrs Chernov. Board Members of the Australian Friends of Asha (AFOA) attended the lunch along with the Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne Archbishop Denis Hart and the Consul General of India, Manika Jain. Visiting from the UK was Dame Julia Cleverdon. Some longstanding supporters of Asha were also present including Paul Smith, Managing Director of KS Environmental.

His Excellency the Governor spoke warmly about Dr Kiran’s work and expressed his delight at the support being provided by the Australian Friends of Asha.

Responding to the Governor’s remarks, Dr Kiran thanked the Governor for all of his support over many years, and for his role as Patron of the Australian Friends of Asha. She recalled the recent visit to Asha by the Governor and Mrs Chernov, Senior Aide to the Governor Jonathan Burke along with Robert Johanson and Richard Leder from the AFOA. Dr Kiran presented the Governor with a memento from the visit.
