This year we have nearly 450 students from our slum communities doing their graduation in different prestigious Universities in Delhi. Asha provides them with a learning avenue, inculcating lifelong values, developing their career pathways through education, making them responsible citizens, and helping their families escape the intergenerational cycle of poverty.
These students are actively engaged as Asha Ambassadors supporting the Asha team in reaching the slum communities with different thematic interventions. They play remarkable roles as a tutor to young students, advocates of education to persuade parents and elders, consoling partners to the poor and abandoned elderly and active supporters of the health team in conducting different clinics. They are true followers of the ‘Asha way of Life’ as they practice different values daily, becoming inspiring models to the young children in the slums.
